Week 1 Challenge: Getty Museum Challenge

Hey Div. 6! Are you ready for your first challenge?!!? Well, here we go!

There is an online challenge going on where people are asked to re-create famous paintings/sculptures that are at the J. Paul Getty Museum, which is in California. People around the world have looked up some of the art at this museum and have some how re-created it by either using different material to create the art OR they have literally jumped into the art and they have become the painting. Look through the slide show below to see what others around the world have done!

YOUR CHALLENGE!!

You must now re-create your own famous piece of art work. I will provide you with a list of artists. You are to:

1) choose an artist from the list (You may also choose your own artist if you wish!)

2) Look up some of that artist's work and find one that you would like to re-create

3) Find material around the house to help you create props. Feel free to use other members of your family to help you! Make sure you take a picture of your re-creation!

4) In addition to your picture, I ask that you provide a little bit of information about the artist and that specific piece of artwork. Tell me Who is the artist, Where are they from, are they still alive, what art movement are they from (ex. pop art, renaissance, gothic), provide 8 interesting facts about the artist, and Why you chose that specific piece of work.
