I told a chemistry joke, but there was NO REACTION!!
Hello young scientist!!
For this week, you will be doing some science. You may be required to conduct your own experiment, or present research on a new topic.
First, we will need to go over the Scientific Method!! We will go over this concept on our Zoom Meeting today at 12! Here are some notes you will need to help you.
Now here is your task:
Choose only 1 of the points below to research. You must design/construct a diagram or experiment that is related to your point. You may create a poster, video or PowerPoint presentation to show your research. I do understand that finding material for your experiment may be difficult during this time. With that, try to use what you have at home!
You must include:
- Ample information and research about your topic
- A visual representation of your experiment (this can be done with pictures/video)
Pick one of the following (I have provided some examples of experiments for you. You are NOT limited to these suggestions:
Human body (digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory)
What is blood made of
Build your own lungs
Build your own arm: With muscles and tendons
Fingerprinting
Simple Machines (levers, wedges, inclined plane, wheel and axle, pulley and screw)
Pulley experiments
Lego machines
Ramps (Inclined planes) car races
Power ( the rate at which energy is transferred EX: Motors, bodies running up a hill)
Potato powered lightbulb
Circuits
Solutions and Solubility (and no, you can NOT do a baking soda/vinegar volcano...)
A) Solutions (e.g., apple juice, coffee) that can be separated through distillation, evaporation, and crystallization
B) Solubility of solids, liquids, and gases (e.g., salt [solid], honey [liquid], carbon dioxide [gas in water makes pop])
C) Properties of solutions: concentration, pH, etc.
D) Dissolving: process of forming a solution
Oil and water experiments
Growing gummy bears
Free Style Potion making/mixing
Dissolving in hot water vs. cold water
Dissolving part of something (bouncy egg experiment)
Now go on my mad scientists! Show me what you can do! (PS this is the last project I will ever assign you this year...insert crying face here!)
